About Mahabharat: Ek Dharmayudh

The series follows the Pandava and Kaurava cousins from their boyhood rivalry inside the palace to the great war at Kurukshetra. Familiar beats of the epic are kept, but every character and setting is AI-rendered rather than filmed with actors. JioStar announced 100 episodes for the first instalment, each only a few minutes long, released in a weekly rhythm on TV and on demand on JioHotstar.

Mahabharat: Ek Dharmayudh was billed as India's first fully AI-powered premium series. The production tools have not been disclosed. Collective Media Network's Historyverse built the show, with JioStar as partner and distributor, and it was dubbed into Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali and English, among seven languages in total. Critics and social media users mocked stiff character movement and anachronistic props in the first episodes, which gave the show a second life as a meme.

As of 26 October 2026, the trailer on JioHotstar's YouTube channel had 14,864,053 views, and JioHotstar told C21 Media that episode clips drew 6.5 million video views within days of launch. The audience is Indian, spread across Hindi and southern-language viewers thanks to the multi-language release, plus StarPlus households who caught the Sunday 7:30 PM IST telecast. Much of the attention was mocking: Business Today and others covered jokes about IKEA-style furniture in a mythological palace. Viewing numbers for the series itself on JioHotstar have not been published, so the trailer and clip figures are the only verified signals.
